Better World by Design and KnowHER Design Talks featuring Naz Arandi

AIGA Rhode Island presents the first annual KnowHER Design Talks. This series celebrates and highlights the strong female powerhouses who make up our design industry today. Every Thursday in March, one female designer will give a presentation on her work and her experiences.

Don't miss this series of presentations by influential and inspiring female designers.

Naz grew up in a far far land called Iran, where as a young girl she dreamed of being a voice actress and marrying Jason Priestley. Yes, that's right. She also painted, collected bugs, wrote plays that were performed by her and her classmates, played in her school basketball team, skied and read a lot of grown-up books she wasn't supposed to. She moved to the US two years into college, an action forced by her parents (but she really likes living here now and knows her parents wanted only the best for her). Naz went to college and later to grad school at Cranbrook Academy of Art and despite her love for theater, she graduated with a degree in graphic design and new media. She also became fascinated with American pop culture and advertising.

After school she moved to Los Angeles and started teaching college kids interactive and graphic design at Cal Poly Pomona. This career path was short lived due to her 50-mile drive every day. She left teaching and joined advertising very quickly. She found herself at Springbox, Ogilvy, Phenomenon and Schematics, consulted with American Film Institute and Los Angeles Film Festival, she also wrote for LAWeekly's culture and music section. And ended up as a creative director at one her favorite brands known as Netflix.

While she was busy working, she married a talented musician and designer and got the strangest rescue dog, called Benji. He's an old soul, just like she is.

This event is free.
